Manage Server: Logging

The Logging tab allows you to change Net8 logging and tracing for an Oracle Names server during runtime. These values will remain valid only for the current session.

Log Directory:

Enter the directory to which log files will be written. Both client and server log files will be written on the client machine.

Log File:

Enter the name of the log file on the client. The log file is defaulted to NAMES.LOG.

Trace Level:

From the drop-down list, select the level of tracing:

OFF—Tracing is not set.

USER—Tracing is set to a level appropriate for users. Traces to identify user-induced error conditions.

ADMIN—Tracing is set to a level appropriate to database administrators. Traces to identify installation-specific problems.

DEV—Tracing is set to a level appropriate for developers.

Trace Directory:

Enter the directory to which trace files will be written.

Trace File:

Enter the trace file name. The default name is NAMES.TRC.

Apply button:

Click to set the logging and tracing settings.

Revert button:

Click to restore the tab panel to its original settings.
