The Advanced tab allows you to query, add or remove specific types of Names Server records. There are specific types of Oracle Names server, including:

• A.SMD – This is for network addresses of services (Net Service Names), such as database services or Oracle gateways to heterogeneous services.

• CNAME.SMD – This is the type for alias records, which resolve to a canonical name which can then be resolved to an address.

• DL.RDBMS.OMD – This is the Oracle Names server type for database link records.

• NS.SMD – This is the Oracle Names server type for addresses of other Oracle Names servers and is used for communication between Oracle Names servers.

• V1ADD.NPO.OMD – This is the datatype for connections using SQL*NET v1, a networking product used by older versions of Oracle (usually 6.x and earlier)

Query:	Click to query an existing record specified in the Name and Type fields.
Add:	Click to add a record specified in the Name, Type and Value fields.
Remove:	Click to remove the record specified in the Name, Type and Value fields.
Execute button:	Click to perform the record query, add or remove operation.

Name:	Enter the specific record to query, add or remove.
Type:	Enter the specific record type to query, add or remove.
Value:	Enter the value of the record to add or remove
