Adding a New Protocol Address
A service may be supported by more than one listener protocol address. To add
a listening address to an existing net service name.
To add a new address:
- Double-click on the Net Service Names folder in the directory tree or choose
Open Network Configuration from the File menu. You may either browse or enter
the name of the TNSNAMES.ORA file, which stores the net service names.
- Click on an existing Net Service Name file in the Net Service Names folder in
the left hand side screen.
- Select the net service name you want to add the additional address to, and
click “+”. A new address tab appears.
- Specify the network protocol using the pull down menu. You may choose from
either TCP/IP, SPX, IPC, or Named Pipes.
- Enter values for any protocol-specific parameters.
- Use the “<” and “>” buttons to demote or promote the address within the list of addresses.
- Choose Save Network Configuration from the File menu to save changes to
TNSNAMES.ORA in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin on UNIX or ORACLE_HOME\network\admin on Windows platforms, or choose Save As from the File menu to
save under a different file name or path.
