Patiently, the ground soaks up the water, this key liquid of life. Quenching thirst, enabling photosynthesis, liberating life-giving oxygen from its very being, this water brings welcome relief and renewed life to all that it embraces and enters. The essences of life sprinkle and soak all around us in many other ways. Children play gently with each other. Adults carefully nurture and instruct young beings, bringing living waters of gentle and kindly ex- ample. People say kindly things to one another. Many-listening-ears quench and repair lonelinesses, bring love and kindness to deserted, dessicated souls ... a touch, a moist breath of warmth and healing. We are many-listening-ears. ---------- (C) 1999, David D. Eisenstein.
